Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group UK is a full railway engineering service provider specialising in design and construction of slab track solutions, track renewal and maintenance, tunnels, stations, consultancy, planning, and design.
Our focus is on customer-oriented and tailor-made solutions for light rail, main-line railways, freight lines and private infrastructure, working collaboratively with our clients throughout the project lifecycle as a consultant, a designer and a contractor.
Innovation is at the heart of our business and we offer solutions to the most challenging projects by combining our breadth and depth of expertise in the UK complimented by a wealth of experience from our global business. A special strength is our innovative product range including slab track systems, the SLS Sersa Second Life System® and our Machine Group, a unique and specialist in-line excavation, re-ballasting and material handling system.
Leadership Team
Carl is the International Business Development Director of Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group UK and joined the company in 2004. He has over 20 years of experience in the UK and Ireland Rail Market and significant knowledge of contracting in the European Rail Market. He has grown the business into a leading specialist railway contractor recognised for innovation and quality.

Railway construction: we build the future.
Rail networks worldwide are made up of 1.3 million kilometres of track. Looking at the future, the railway industry will grow through an increase in freight, passenger traffic, and a new awareness of our environment in the decades to come. At the same time, the requirements for railway tracks are becoming ever more stringent. Railways have to withstand higher loads and greater speeds, and at the same time provide optimum comfort for passengers.
This is why at Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, we fully committed ourselves to railway engineering many years ago. We plan for the long term and act on the future. We look at railways from the point of view of our customers and their entire life cycle. We want to provide maximum benefit throughout this cycle and achieve top cost-efficiency. Irrespective of whether you commission us as general contractor or as subcontractor for a specific section of a contract, we will always apply a holistic approach that encompasses more than just the day-to-day requirements. In 1886, master builder Cornelius Rhomberg founded a new construction company in Bregenz, Austria, which was successfully continued by Walter Rhomberg and Walter-Heinz Rhomberg. Today, the Rhomberg Group is led by fourth-generation master builder DI Hubert Rhomberg. The company is active all over the world with its construction, resources, and railway engineering business expertise.
Sersa – which stands for "Soudage électrique des rails S.A." – was formed in 1948 in the Canton of Neuenburg, Switzerland, and purchased by Arnold Schnyder in 1979. Since the management was taken over by his son, Konrad Schnyder, in 1986, SERSA has developed into an internationally active railway specialist.
Together, as the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group which was formed in 2012, we offer our customers a range of services (which is probably the most complete range of services available) in railway construction/railway engineering. This is backed up by state-of-the-art technology, many years of practical competence, and outstandingly well trained staff.
